Dog training books
Im not sure if he’s full blooded Bullmastiff. He’s about seven months old. He’s brindle in color and looks just like the pictures. I keep hearing stories of how docile they are and that they are good with kids. He’s docile when he’s asleep and the kids like him when he can’t jump on them, i.e. when he’s behind the fence.
Is it because he’s a puppy? He’s a bit of a destructo too. I love him, but I wish he would hurry up and grow up and get docile.
I have a training book and am trying things.
dog training books
Uhhh no disrespect but have you owned dogs before ? Dogs espically puppies – which a 7month old dog is – no matter how many pounds he weighs – NEED TRAINING – and most likely you & your family do as well – Big dogs need to learn manners- more importantly than small ones.
Dogs usually get out of their ‘puppy stages’ at 2 years old – it may be a little eariler , some dogs never calm down – so don’t expect just to wait it out – get ‘puppy’ trained
1) it doesn’t matter if your dog is full or mixed blooded it will still behave inapproperativly if its not trained. ( by training I mean positive reniforcement – nothing negitive like shock collars, prong collars, hitting or other abusive methods –
If you don’t have extensive experience training dog espically BIG dogs in this matter please seek a highly aclaimed dog trainer – who has positive methods & is willing to work with you & ALL your family & your dog to start thing to look up- or at least invest & take a beginers obedience class.
Don’t do it yourself as alot of dog books aren’t very helpfull & they don’t tell you tricks of the trade or help you with things that aren’t in the books – dogs are individuals – just like humans & learn in different ways & have different drives-
If you don’t socialize your dog with your children & other people ( while he is awake ) you will run into agression & otgher very bad problems — so get him to a trainer / obedience class ASAP !
If you want to know if your dog is full blooded – 1) Where did you get this dog? if it didn’t come with AKC or CKC regrestration papers its mostlikely a mix – ask the breeder but if they can’t proove documentation ( akc or ckc – I personally wouldn’t fully believe them. – so long as you love your dog it doesn’t matter what he is ! if you REALLY must know his heretage DNA tests for dogs have been developed – but cost ALOT
Good luck
No way to know unless he came with registration papers from a legitimate registry that show his pedigree.
Do you have registration papers? If yes, then it’s likely – but yeah forgeries can be made.
Did you obtain the dog from a breeder? I would contact them and get information on my dog’s parents
If you obtained the dog from another source, no reg. papers – have someone knowledgeable about the breed to evaluate him.
You wish? he’d grow up and get? docile? Well, right now is the time to establish it.
Hmm, for other people out there reading this message…please research the breed of dog you think you want in your life before you get it. That means finding people that have one and visiting them several times – interacting with the dogs. Research!!! means knowing enough that you can I.D. the breed you want.
People – uh many breeds are really best left to those needing or wanting a specialized type of dog for the purpose it was bred for.
Hi, i have a bullmastiff too there SO cute!
Well bullmastiffs tend to be rather large as we all know and when you take him for a walk he should slobber ALOT!!!!! and it sounds like a bullmastiff to me but I’m not too sure. And my bullmastiff (Gracie) is so destructive, but so adorable she will tear up paper, water bottles any thing she can get a hold of. ha ha
other then that it sounds just like one. hope i helped good luck~~~!
Probably. Good dogs just don’t happen though. You really should have him in obedience classes. He should also be neutered. That would help him out a lot, especially because being a male, he’s full of wild and crazy hormones.
Leash walking and crate training will both benefit him too.
LMFAO!!!!
If you didn’t buy from a REPUTABLE BREEDER *&* get AKC REGISTRATION…it’s a POS!!!!
There’s NO SUCH THING as "full blooded"!!!
That’s BABY/IGNORANT-TALK for PUREBRED!!!!
Which,it appears,you do ***NOT*** have!
